Roger Stone has meltdown after he figures out he’s been caught on Paul Manafort wiretap

Last night it was revealed that the Feds had a secret wiretap on Donald Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort’s phone before and after the election. Even as the public and the media scramble to figure out who may have been caught up on that wiretap, one individual is now confirming that he’s been caught up in it – and he’s not taking the news well.

Former Trump campaign adviser and longtime Trump friend Roger Stone reacted to the news in all caps fashion, which typically signifies a meltdown: “THE FEDS WERE EAVESDROPPING ON MY TELEPHONE CALLS WITH MANAFORT DURING THE INAUGURATION AND TRANSITION.” Stone appeared to be trying to paint himself as a victim, which is absurd considering that the wiretap on Manafort’s phone was signed off on by a federal judge and everything was above board. Instead, Stone may have just made it all that much easier for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to target him in the Trump-Russia investigation.

Thanks to Stone’s admission, Mueller now has confirmation that Manafort and Stone had multiple phone conversations that need to be looked into. His angry defensive response suggests those conversations may have been incriminating. Moreover, Mueller now knows when those calls happened, potentially making it easier to zero in them. With every one of Manafort’s phone calls having been automatically recorded, investigators are sitting on potentially thousands of hours of recordings to sift through. This just made it easier for them to find what they’re looking for. Stone is far from the only Trump team member caught up on the wiretap.

Based on the known timeframe of the Paul Manafort wiretap, it’s a near certainty that Donald Trump himself has been recorded during his phone calls to Manafort before and after the election. In addition, as Palmer Report reported last night, Mike Pence is also known to have spoken regularly with Manafort by phone during the transition.

Donald Trump signals how much he’s worried about the New York Attorney General taking him down

One of the biggest advantages for those trying to take down Donald Trump is that he keeps blatantly telegraphing his intentions at every turn. Earlier this month it was revealed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is working with the State of New York to bring parallel state level charges in the Trump-Russia scandal, which can’t be pardoned. This evening, Trump signaled he finally understands how much trouble he’s in when it comes to those state level charges.

Trump has spent years hurling personal insults at New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, calling him a “lightweight” and at one point randomly accusing him of being a cocaine addict. But after all that bluster, Trump invited Schneiderman to join him at a United Nations reception this evening in New York City according to a Politico report (link). We all know what Trump is trying to do here, because we’ve seen him do it before, and we know what it means.

When FBI Director James Comey was in charge of the Trump-Russia investigation, Donald Trump invited him to a private dinner in an attempt at schmoozing him, under the narcissistic and delusional belief that he could charm Comey into going easy on him. When it didn’t work, Trump fired Comey, which resulted in Mueller taking over the investigation. Once it became clear to Trump how screwed he was, he reportedly began sending personal messages to Mueller in an attempt at buttering him up into going soft on him. Now Trump is trying to schmooze Eric Schneiderman.

This means Donald Trump has finally figured out what the rest of us figured out awhile ago: Mueller’s coordination with Schneiderman means two things. First, it means Trump can’t pardon people like Paul Manafort, which greatly increases the odds of them flipping on him. Second, it means that the minute Trump is ousted from office, the State of New York is going to make a very serious effort at putting Trump in prison.

Addressing the U.N. General Assembly, President Trump threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea and labeled Iran a “rogue nation,” the New York Times reported. In remarks at the summit of world leaders, Trump called the North Korean regime “a band of criminals” and said the U.S. would act unilaterally to defend itself against North Korea if necessary. Trump also denounced Iran as a “corrupt dictatorship” and a supporter of terrorism in the Middle East and called the Iran nuclear deal “an embarrassment.” Furthermore, Trump said the U.S. was “prepared to take further action” to respond to violence and repression in Venezuela. In the speech, the president emphasized an “America First” approach to foreign policy to the audience of foreign leaders and diplomats.

The FBI wiretapped Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort under Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants before and after the election, CNN reported on Monday. The FBI obtained a FISA warrant to surveil Manafort for a 2014 investigation into consulting firms working for Ukraine’s former ruling party, the Party of Regions, which was linked to Russia. Last year, investigators discontinued that surveillance because of a lack of evidence. However, the FISA court granted the FBI  a new warrant in fall 2016 to resume monitoring of Manafort in connection with the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and elements linked to the Russian government. The surveillance continued into this year. Separately, the Times reported that during a raid on Manafort’s house in July, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team warned Manafort that they planned to indict him.
