US president offers no public rebuke of Rodrigo Dutertes brutal drugs crackdown as he nears end of 12-day Asia tour

Donald Trump has hailed his great relationship with the Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte, who stands accused of acting with impunity over a brutal war on drugs that has left thousands dead.

The US president made no mention of human rights during brief remarks to reporters prior to a meeting with his Philippine counterpart, and both leaders ignored shouted questions about the drugs drugcrackdown.

Robert Mueller has an ace up his sleeve against Donald Trump and Mike Pence

Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Donald Trumps Russia scandal has increasingly begun to play out in public. Three of Trumps key campaign advisers have been arrested. One of them has already pleaded guilty. Another is providing cooperative testimony to a grand jury. Even as the probe moves closer to Trump and Mike Pence, Mueller has an ace up his sleeve hidden in plain sight that most observers have lost track of in the chaos.

Trumps campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who is now under house arrest, is being as uncooperative as possible. That might change if Mueller offered him a deal that included little or no prison time. But Mueller doesnt need to do that, because he already has has already Manaforts unwitting cooperation. Hes had it for the better part of two years, because there was a FISA surveillance warrant against Manafort during and after the campaign.

There is no doubt that Mueller and his team have already taken possession of every relevant Manafort phone call that was recorded on those wiretaps. That means Mueller has lower level campaign people nailed left and right, and hes likely already working to flip those individuals. More importantly, Donald Trump and Mike Pence are both known to have communicated with Manafort by phone, after Manafort left the campaign, in the general timeframe that the FISA warrant is known to have been active. Pence was relying on Manafort during the transition period, for reasons that cannot have been above board. Trump was calling Manafort after he took office, for reasons that likely constitute obstruction of justice or witness tampering.

Robert Mueller only needs to trap Trump and Pence into lying to him about whats on those tapes, and thatll be a felony right there. On the other hand, if Trump and Pence admit what they truly said to Manafort, thatll probably take them down as well. Trump and Pence are each likely finished the minute they sit down with Mueller.

Donald Trump no longer thinks hell survive this

Donald Trump is psychologically so far removed from reality to begin with, and more recently so jarringly senile, it’s been difficult to figure out if he’s truly understood just how screwed he is when it comes to this Russia scandal. However, in the past few days, it’s become abundantly clear what Trump thinks about his prospects and he’s now fairly certain he’s not going to survive this one way or the other.

Now that three of Trump’s campaign advisers have been arrested, and one of them has already confessed to conspiring with Russia to alter the outcome of the election, he’s in a position where he has to do something to distance himself from it. Now would be the time for him to take a stand against Russia, condemn his advisers for having conspired with Russia, and attempt to insulate himself from the scandal. Or if he can’t bring himself to do that, he could at least shut up and stay out of his own way.

We all know Trump likes to talk, tweet, and try to control the narrative. So it wasn’t shocking to see him begin blabbing yesterday. The trouble for him is that he’s going in precisely the opposite direction he needs to go. At a time when mainstream America is taking a look at the mounting Trump-Russia arrests and beginning to conclude that the scandal really is as dire as Trump’s detractors have long claimed, Trump has publicly pledged his allegiance to Putin twice in two days.

First, Donald Trump announced that he believes Vladimir Putin’s assertion that Russia didn’t meddle in the election. Then, Trump announced that he wants sanctions against Russia eased. These statements are a desperate attempt at placating Putin, even though Trump knows that his words are making his Russia scandal much worse for him back home. Trump is facing impeachment and imprisonment, yet he’s even more afraid of what Putin will do to him if he doesn’t keep playing along. Trump now clearly knows he’s screwed either way.

This is probably the week we say goodbye to Jeff Sessions

Jeff Sessions, we hardly knew ye. Actually, we’ve known him for decades, and he long ago revealed himself to be a racist liar with little respect for the Constitution. But he’s only been Attorney General for less than year, and it appears his tenure is already about to end in rather abrupt fashion. A series of events now strongly suggests that this is the week we’ll see his firing or resignation. At one time, that might have been bad news for the anti-Trump Resistance. But even that seems to have suddenly changed.

Last week it became clear that Sessions had known all about the Donald Trump campaign underlings who were plotting various conspiracies with the Russian government during the election. This has prompted the Democrats in Congress to collectively decide that it’s time to force Sessions out of office. They’re calling for his resignation on Twitter and on cable news. They’re hauling him in to testify in public on Tuesday about these revelations about his role in the Trump-Russia scandal. This is a clear attempt at making Sessions so radioactive, he either has to resign, or Trump has to fire him. “But wait a minute,” you’re asking.

For a long stretch of time, it was believed that Trump might fire Sessions so he could also fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and then appoint someone as Acting Attorney General who is willing to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. However, the Democrats are clearly no longer worried about that scenario. It’s as if the Republicans have tipped off that they now want Mueller to remain on the job and get rid of Trump, so they won’t have Trump hanging around their necks as they head into the midterms.

If you’re looking for evidence that this is indeed the week Jeff Sessions is likely to exit the stage, consider this. For a long time it appeared the Republicans in Congress weren’t going to allow Trump to fire their old friend Sessions. But if the Republicans still wanted to protect Sessions, they wouldn’t be allowing the Democrats to haul him in for damaging public Trump-Russia testimony. It’s as if, after absorbing such harsh election losses on Tuesday, the GOP has decided to let the Democrats finish Trump off. That means Sessions goes first.

Palmer Report: Kellyanne Conway accidentally calls for Donald Trump to resign

Now that Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore has been accused of sexually molesting underage girls, the Republican Party and the Donald Trump administration have been scrambling to try to figure out how to respond. Trump has been on his Asia trip during the entirety of the scandal, so he sent Kellyanne Conway onto national television to field questions. Conway got herself so spun around that by the end of the interview she was accidentally calling for Donald Trump to resign.

Kellyanne Conway appeared on the ABC News morning show this weekend, and she was of course asked about Roy Moore. Her response: “If there’s anyone currently in public office who has behaved that way toward any girl or woman, maybe they should step aside.” As of yet, Moore has not admitted to the accusations against him. However, Donald Trump has been caught on tape bragging in graphic detail about how he’s sexually assaulted women. Thus Kellyanne just called for Trump to resign.

Conway still has no clear role in Donald Trump’s White House, other than to periodically go on television and say ridiculous and dishonest things, typically as a distraction from Trump’s latest failures and scandals. However, when she says something this stupid, it only serves to amplify the Trump scandal she’s supposed to be drawing attention away from.

Kellyanne Conway tends to disappear from public view for long stretches whenever she screws up and says something this stupid. Considering that she’s now accidentally calling for Donald Trump to resign, after this she may end up disappearing for quite a long time.

The post Kellyanne Conway accidentally calls for Donald Trump to resign appeared first on Palmer Report.
