On Friday, multiple major media outlets reported that far-right conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi was negotiating a plea deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller in relation to the Trump-Russia scandal. Shortly after the story broke, Corsi confirmed to the media that this was indeed the case. The thing is, if you take a look at his Twitter page on Friday night, it’s like something out of an alternate universe.
The entire point of a cooperating plea deal is to cooperate with prosecutors – on every level – in exchange for leniency. That means not only giving up all the information you have on yourself and everyone else involved, but also publicly keeping quiet, and doing nothing to stand in the way of the prosecution. The more cooperative you are, the better deal you get. The worse of a cooperator you are, the longer you spend in prison. But in the hours after Corsi confirmed that he’s negotiating a deal, he began unloading on Mueller in surreal fashion.
