For a brief moment last week, Jerome Corsi had the Trump-Russia scandal spotlight largely to himself. That quickly faded after Paul Manafort made headlines by screwing up his plea deal, and then Michael Cohen made far bigger headlines by teaming up with Robert Mueller to help expose Trump’s role and motive in the Trump-Russia scandal. Now Corsi is trying to retake the spotlight, and it may be worth paying attention, if only because he tends to give away things that he shouldn’t.
Here’s what Jerome Corsi posted today, after hiring a lawyer who’s better known for far-right stunts than winning criminal cases: “I have reviewed today and APPROVED the CRIMINAL COMPLAINT my attorneys Larry Klayman and David Gray are filing tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, w Acting AG Whitaker, DOJ IG Horowitz & others.” So why does this matter?
Corsi went on to say that he’ll be publicly posting the complaint at 9am tomorrow on his website. So tomorrow we’re about to see Jerome Corsi throw his final Trump-Russia hail mary. He’s already in a reckless enough place that he gave a copy of his own draft indictment to the media, even though it contradicted his own public claims, and appears to incriminate him. So it’s almost a given that his “criminal complaint” is going to include even more relevant information about his role in the Trump-Russia scandal, as well as the roles of people like Roger Stone.
To be clear, this criminal complaint won’t go anywhere. Robert Mueller’s strong moves this week suggest that Matthew Whitaker is afraid of interfering, and DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz has already shown that he’s a straight shooter. But we look forward to seeing what Jerome Corsi might end up recklessly telling us about the Trump-Russia scandal in the process.
