1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: “Mr. Enemy of the People”

You may as well dub Donald Trump as “Mr. Enemy of the People” considering how many times he has repeated that phrase in reference to the free press. Trump’s repetitive usage of the phrase is particularly egregious considering how Trump strategically used the National Enquirer, a well-known American tabloid, to “catch and hold” stories that would have marred his image, even though the stories were true.

Apparently, the National Enquirer valued the greater glory of Donald Trump more than the profit it would have made by publishing the stories of his alleged affairs. More importantly, it valued its connection to Trump more than it valued following the law, meaning it was knowingly working with Trump to defraud the public in order to get him elected. The Enquirer may put out stories that rot your brain, but AMI, the rag’s parent company, and its boss David Pecker, are no dummies. They are now fully cooperating with Robert Mueller’s investigation into campaign finance fraud.

The effect of the National Enquirer’s cooperation with Donald Trump’s political agenda cannot be understated. David Pecker feloniously conspired with Trump and Michael Cohen to shape public perception in a way that made Donald Trump a hero instead of a dilettante. They killed the negative, likely true, stories about Donald Trump, and they flooded the markets with outlandish stories about key Democratic figures, such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, that were completely false.

Everyone involved betrayed their readers and they betrayed the institution of our government and the premises behind it, which are free and fair elections. What is this, Russia? Funny that Trump’s plan of attack using tabloid smear stories is very reminiscent of GRU tactics, which of course is Russian intelligence.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Five things to know about Robert Mueller’s secret Trump-Russia appeals court case

  •
  •
  •
  •

It’s being treated by the federal court system like it’s the most crucial case in United States history. Yet because it’s also being treated as one of the most secretive court cases in U.S. history, we know virtually nothing about it. It’s the case of Special Counsel Robert Mueller (we think) vs someone in the Trump-Russia scandal who’s important enough to make the entire DC Court of Appeals bend over backward to accommodate the matter accordingly. Here’s what little we do know about the case:

1) Not one official word has been said about this ongoing court case by anyone involved. We only know it exists because secretive hearings keep taking place. That said, various reporters have spotted Robert Mueller’s top prosecutors in just enough proximity to the court case to make clear that it almost certainly involves him.

2) Minor details have leaked out which strongly suggest that this is a court battle over a grand jury proceeding. Some legal observers suspect Mueller has subpoenaed Trump to testify, but we’re not sure that alone would be enough to warrant all the secrecy. Other legal observers have suggested that Mueller may have already had a grand jury indict Trump, and he’s seeking to get the court to allow him to unseal it. Still others think Mueller may have indicted Pence. But all of these are merely logical guesses, based on almost no available evidence.

3) Whatever this court battle is, it’s been going on since August. It’s currently at the U.S. Court of Appeals level, meaning that it started out in lower court, one side won, and the other side is appealing. We have no way of knowing which side won the initial ruling and which side is appealing. But this is clearly a battle that’s been going on a long time, meaning it’s not a result of anything that’s sprung up in the past few months.

4) Secrecy surrounding this court matter is off the charts. Various reporters have tweeted that the entire floor of the courtroom was sealed off ahead of time in order to keep them out. This level of security is typically only reserved for cases in which a witness is being shielded from the public. But an appeals court case of this type wouldn’t involve having a witness testify. This suggests that the secrecy is due to the sheer importance of the case.

5) The entire DC Court of Appeals has dropped what it’s doing in order to hear this case – it’s apparently that crucial to the fate of the nation. That said, one judge has recused himself from the panel; it’s a guy who was recently nominated by Trump, after he did some legal work for Trump’s defense. His recusal strongly suggests that this case is about Trump, or directly involves Trump.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Yep, Jared Kushner is going to prison

  •
  •
  •
  •

Jared Kushner will go to prison. Over the past couple days, Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to facilitating illegal hush money payments to Trump’s former mistresses on Trump’s behalf. He also publicly stated on ABC News that Trump’s previous denials of knowledge of such payments are simply blatant lies. While most in the media continue to dispute whether this constitutes an impeachment worthy offense, it has become obvious that Cohen’s statements will only continue to hurt Trump.

It has now been confirmed by multiple sources that Donald Trump was present in the room, along with Cohen and David Pecker – publisher and chief executive of AMI (the publisher of the National Enquirer) – discussed the terms of paying off Trump’s mistresses. In any other (normal) administration, this revelation of wrongdoing would be enough to immediately trigger articles of impeachment.

Following the departure of Cohen from Trump’s team of lawyers, it appears Kushner received the promotion of his new fixer. According to a new report by the Daily Beast, Kushner’s ascension to the role of fixer actually began prior to the complete fallout between Trump and Cohen. Despite the recordings proving Trump’s desperation to pay off women with whom he had affairs, it turns out Trump did not place all of his confidence in Cohen.

According to the Daily Beast article, “During the early months of the Trump era, Kushner performed the task admirably, discussing with Pecker various issues over the phone, including everything from international relations to media gossip.” It appears that while Kushner was pretending to work on Middle East peace, along with the opioid epidemic, he found his time was best spent covering for and protecting his father in law’s crimes. With everything that we now know, there is a high probability that Kushner regrets his actions. Luckily, for those who appreciate justice, regret is not enough to keep Kushner from prison.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Michael Flynn’s dirt on Donald Trump begins surfacing – and it’s ugly

  •
  •
  •
  •

Last week Special Counsel Robert Mueller recommended that Michael Flynn receive no prison time, despite the seriousness of Flynn’s numerous crimes, because Flynn had been just that helpful in taking down bigger fish (translation: Donald Trump and others). The frustrating part was that Mueller blacked out nearly all of Flynn’s cooperation. But now some of Flynn’s dirt is surfacing.

For instance, it turns out Michael Flynn wasn’t just in contact with the Russian Ambassador, trying to sabotage U.S. sanctions against Russia, as we’ve long known. Now we’re learning, thanks to Mother Jones, that Flynn was communicating with the Ambassador during the election as well. This means Flynn’s Kremlin communications weren’t some fly by night reaction to worsening post-election sanctions; this was a core part of the Trump campaign’s election strategy, and people like Donald Trump and Mike Pence had to have known.

We still don’t know what they were talking about, but Robert Mueller does, because Flynn obviously gave him this information a year ago when he cut his deal. But there’s more. Earlier today the Daily Beast revealed that after the new year, Robert Mueller will roll out evidence connecting the Trump campaign financially to nations like Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The centerpiece of the article: Michael Flynn.

This kind of thing can’t be a coincidence. Now that the SDNY has given the public a week to chew on the fact that Donald Trump cheated in the election by committing domestic felonies like paying out hush money, Robert Mueller appears to be laying the groundwork for exposing that Trump also cheated by committing international felonies. Look for more Flynn-related leaks of this type in the coming days and weeks, before Mueller drops the hammer in the new year.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Rudy Giuliani screws up and reveals that Donald Trump is completely screwed

  •
  •
  •
  •

For awhile there, it appeared Donald Trump had finally figured out he needed to get Rudy Giuliani off the stage before he could do any more harm. Every time Rudy has opened his mouth about the investigation into Trump’s criminal scandals, he’s ended up confessing to additional Trump crimes, or revealing details he shouldn’t have. But now that Trump is truly on the ropes, he’s brought Rudy back to the forefront – and it’s already proving to be a huge mistake.

Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News this morning, ostensibly to defend Donald Trump from the mounting criminal revelations against him, or at least to distract from them. But you can’t distract from scandals by making them worse. Rudy admitted, out of nowhere, that the negotiations for Trump Tower Moscow continued all the way through election day.

This makes it impossible for Trump to argue that he was only pursuing the deal at a time when he wasn’t yet in serious contention in the election. But Rudy wasn’t done. In a semi-coherent ramble, we thought we heard Rudy reveal that prosecutors are going through Trump’s business records all the way back to 1982. Sometimes it’s difficult to figure out precisely what Rudy is saying. But NBC’s Ken Dilanian tweeted this: “If I heard him right, Rudy Giuliani just said on Fox News that prosecutors are going through Trump’s business records going back to 1982.”

So yeah, if it wasn’t clear already, Donald Trump is completely screwed. The Trump Tower Moscow timing was such that it cannot be explained as anything other than an election payoff, and if prosecutors didn’t already know it, they do now. And if prosecutors are going back three and a half decades into Trump’s corrupt financial history, they’re going to find – or likely already have found – hundreds if not thousands of felony counts to hit him with. Good work, Rudy!
