1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Qatar sells out Jared Kushner

  •
  •
  •
  •

Nearly a year ago, we all learned that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was investigating whether Jared Kushner put Donald Trump’s foreign policy positions for sale in exchange for badly needed loans to bail out his failing real estate empire. Now one of the nations involved is finally throwing Kushner under the bus.

Qatar loaned a significant amount of money to Jared Kushner in 2018, in the name of saving his skyscraper at 666 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan from going bankrupt. The question has been whether Kushner abused his White House position to ensure that the U.S. government gave Qatar favorable treatment in return, by ending a trade blockade. We still don’t definitively have that answer, and we’ll have to wait until Mueller completes his Kushner probe. But now, according to Reuters, government leaders in Qatar are claiming that it didn’t even know about the loans to Kushner. Wait, what?

It sounds like the Qatari leadership is trying to insulate itself from this scandal by asserting that it didn’t know its underlings were participating in a pay-to-play scheme with Jared Kushner. Typically, when a government sees investigators closing in, and knows it’s about to get exposed for having participated in a scheme like this, the uppermost ranks of the government claim that it was solely the work of their underlings.

Whether or not the leaders of Qatar can sell this excuse, and thus keep the international criminal heat off themselves, remains to be seen. But this is an unmistakable signal that Qatar expects the Kushner pay-to-play scandal to get blown wide open soon, and it’s trying to get out ahead of it. Is Qatar merely guessing that Robert Mueller is about to take his big swing at Jared Kushner, or does Qatar know something we don’t?

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump goes even more bizarrely off the rails

  •
  •
  •
  •

“President” Donald Trump continues to try to track down the person or persons who have released his schedules that are filled with “executive time” because apparently he does not like being outed as a lazy person occupying the White House. On Monday he took to Twitter to attack critics, tweeting:

“No president ever worked harder than me (cleaning up the mess I inherited)!” … “The Democrats are so self righteous and ANGRY! Loosen up and have some fun. The Country is doing well!”

These tweets followed his normal proverbial BS-fest on weekends. On Sunday, Trump somehow tried to assert that he is the hardest working president, tweeting: “The media was able to get my work schedule, something very easy to do, but it should have been reported as a positive, not negative. When the term Executive Time is used, I am generally working, not relaxing. In fact, I probably work more hours than almost any past President. The fact is, when I took over as President, our Country was a mess. Depleted Military, Endless Wars, a potential War with North Korea, V.A., High Taxes & too many Regulations, Border, Immigration & HealthCare problems, & much more. I had no choice but to work very long hours!”

Sources have referred to his loose calendar with nothing concrete on it as “easy time.” We know that Trump loves nicknames for everyone. Maybe he needs a new nickname, and one might fight well- “T-Rex.” Like the dinosaurs, his views on climate change and disregarding what is happening might lead to human’s demise.

In addition, Trump has small hands and arms like the T-Rex, and other than verbal jabs, has not been very successful in dealing with adversaries. Finally, it is a good acronym: Trump – Record Executive time, or T-Rex for short. We need to topple this T-Rex soon.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: The real reason Elizabeth Warren says Donald Trump is going to prison

  •
  •
  •
  •

Something remarkable happened yesterday, and no, we’re not talking about the fact that President Jimmy Carter won another Grammy award, or that Donald Trump somehow managed to invent the new word “muderers.” No, we’re referring to the fact that Elizabeth Warren – who always fearlessly calls it like she sees it – stated on the campaign trail that Trump may well be in prison by the 2020 election. There’s a reason she said this.

Actually, there are two reasons. First, as Palmer Report pointed out last week, Donald Trump’s increasingly precarious political and legal situation means that by the time of the 2020 election, the Democrats will probably be running against some other, unknown Republican nominee. They need to prepare for this scenario, and not simply assume that they’ll be running against Trump. But the second reason for this is more immediate, and – in the short term at least – more important.

Donald Trump has been trying to proverbially set Elizabeth Warren on fire. He’s been taking a minor issue about her heritage, which isn’t even scandalous, and overblowing it to the point that the media has picked up on it and turned it into a ratings-driven feeding frenzy. It’s one of the few things Trump is very skilled at. He managed to take Hillary Clinton’s phony email scandal and create national hysteria about it, so now he’s trying to do the same about Warren and her Native American heritage.

Elizabeth Warren seems to have figured out that she can’t effectively fight back against Donald Trump on this particular issue. So instead she’s resetting the chess board by highlighting the fact that he’s a career criminal and traitor who’s in real danger of being ousted and sent to prison.

Warren will receive some pushback from the media for daring to speak this truth, because the media isn’t ready to focus on the narrative about Trump ending up in prison. But once that smoke clears, she’ll be in a position where she can keep repeating the ‘Trump is going to prison’ narrative, to the point that the media will have to adopt it. And if the media’s framing of the 2020 election for the next few months is centered around the question of whether Trump will be behind bars, it’ll diminish Trump’s ability to use the media to push his phony scandals about Warren and the other Democrats.

Gavin Newsom defends decision to pull national guard troops from border as he decries ‘manufactured’ crisis

As Donald Trump prepared to speak at the US-Mexico border in another effort to convince voters of the need for a wall to curtail illegal immigration, California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, defended his decision to withdraw national guard troops from the border.

“This whole border issue is manufactured,” Newsom said on Monday of Trump’s portrayal of the situation.
