1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump’s fatwa of hate

It was precisely thirty years ago this Valentine’s Day that the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in a rhapsody of stupefying ignorance and insufferably wicked intolerance astonishing even for him, decreed a fatwa ordering the murder of Salman Rushdie. Rushdie’s “crime” was writing a book, “The Satanic Verses,” detailing verses that were supposedly spoken by Mohammad as part of the Qur’an, and then withdrawn on the grounds that the devil had sent them to deceive him.

Not to be outdone, many in the world press matched the Ayatollah’s absurdity with eye-poppingly craven capitulation, refusing to call it what it was: a state sponsored mob hit ordered by a religious lunatic. Instead they collectively scratched their heads feebleheadedly and wondered aloud at the moral maze presented by religious “freedoms” and our helplessness in the face of them. As if that weren’t enough, they even dared to ask what role of responsibility in all this was played by Rushdie himself, who, understandably, went into hiding.

When at a Trump rally on Monday, when a BBC cameraman was attacked by a Trump supporter, that MAGA hat-wearing imbecile was responding to a Trump fatwa of his own. Donald Trump is fully aware of the power of his words and the hate his fanatical, evil regime has inspired. Yet he continues to use the language of hatred and intolerance, directed at America’s press in particular, and all who disagree with him in general.

The response from the press has remained impotent. Very little is being said condemnatory of Trump and his continuing characterizations of the press as “fake news” and “enemy of the people.” And what is being said doesn’t go far enough, nor does it demand enough.

The White House did issue a statement, deliberately lackluster and predictably insincere. “President Trump condemns all acts of violence against any individual or group of people – including members of the press. We ask that anyone attending an event do so in a peaceful and respectful manner.”

Donald Trump’s greedy, exigent demand for uncritical praise is matched by his pathological hatred for criticism. Like the Ayatollah’s God he is simply too weak to endure the ordinary onslaught of criticism that all who took the job before him acknowledged as an inevitable hazard of the occupation. Forget the flaccid disavowal from the White House: Donald Trump’s fatwa of evil is still in force.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Robert Mueller’s checkmate

The biggest news of the night is that the judge in the Paul Manafort case agrees with Robert Mueller that Paul Manafort lied about his interactions with Russian spy Konstantin Kilimnik during the election, and therefore nullified his prior cooperation agreement. The specific wording reported by Chris Matthews of MSNBC was the judge said that Robert Mueller has established that Manafort lied.

The judge also agreed that Manafort lied about “another investigation.” We know from Robert Mueller’s filings that Manafort’s lies go to the the very “heart” of the investigation. We know that the heart of Mueller’s investigation is Trump and his campaign’s collusion and conspiracy with Russians to help him win the election.

Now we know that Mueller has enough hard evidence to convince a judge of what really happened between Kilimnik and Manafort to convince a judge that Manafort lied. There is only one question left: did Mueller prove Manafort’s lies beyond a reasonable doubt to this judge, or did he merely meet the preponderance burden that’s required in these matters?

If Robert Mueller has evidence beyond a reasonable doubt of what really happened and just successfully got a judge to side with him based on that evidence, then buckle up, because that means Mueller already has what he needs to win this whole thing, and we are not far away from some major indictments.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: We told you the House Democrats were about to drop the hammer on Donald Trump

When The House Intel Committee revealed earlier this week that it was hiring CREW chairman Norm Eisen as a legal adviser, Palmer Report explained that it was a sign the House Democrats were going for the kill against Donald Trump. You simply don’t make a provocative hire like that unless you intend to take Trump down. Now we’re getting confirmation that House Democrats are indeed dropping the hammer.

An unnamed House Democrat has met with a group of reporters in private and spelled out how the plan of attack against Donald Trump is about to go down. Three different House committees will simultaneously go after Trump over his criminal finances and money laundering, and they’re not waiting for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to finish his work and issue a report. Instead they’re diving right in.

In Palmer Report’s view, there are two reasons the House Democrats are diving in right now. The first is that they might find things Mueller didn’t. The second is that the televised hearings will allow them to educate the public about Trump’s crimes, thus putting them in prime position to go into impeachment mode the minute Mueller’s work is done, because they’ll have already laid the groundwork for it.

Donald Trump has already shown enough of his hand when it comes to his defense. He’s going to argue that his criminal election collusion with Russia, no matter how thoroughly proven, wasn’t actually a crime. That’ll leave at least some Americans wondering if it really is a crime to rig an election. But a whole lot more Americans understand that things like bank fraud and Russian money laundering are crimes, and on some level ousting Trump will come down to convincing the people in the middle that he truly is a hardened criminal.

According to a study in Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, leaders are speaking far more simply and with more confidence than they did four score and seven years ago. Donald Trump’s speech has accelerated that trend. The new study says Trump talks less analytically, and more confidently, than all past U.S. presidents. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci, File)

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump’s alleged Adderall abuse takes on a whole new context

In December, Newsweek reported Tom Arnold’s claim that Donald Trump crushed and snorted Adderall on the set of the Apprentice. It allegedly got Trump in the right mood to be combative for his big “you’re fired” scenes. Noel Casler, who worked on the set of the apprentice made similar claims about Trump’s use of the drug.

The drug Adderall is sometimes taken to increase focus, and mental alertness. It can also make a person unusually combative, irritable and it can cause dry mouth. Donald Trump’s alleged past use of the drug Adderall is interesting in light of recent developments.

I noted last week that after watching Brett Kavanaugh and then Matther Whitaker testify, their performances had some odd similarities. Namely, both men consumed an unusually large amount of water during their appearances. The second odd similarity between Kavanaugh’s appearance and Whittaker’s, was that both men were surprisingly combative. Both men displayed a combative nature that was inappropriate for the ocassion, and seemingly, at least somewhat out of character.

MSNBC’s Ari Melber reported that Brett Kavanaugh was coached by the White House before his hearing. Many people speculated that Trump specifically told Kavanaugh to come out swinging and get angry during his questioning. Could Donald Trump’s alleged use of Adderall to prepare himself for his combative “you’re fired” scenes on the Apprentice, be related to Kavanaugh and Whitaker’s bizarre, combative performances?
