1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and the 25th Amendment

  •
  •
  •
  •

Last Monday, an elderly dementia-addled man stormed in front of a crowd in El Paso, Texas to shout sandwich-board conspiracy theories about immigrants and “deep state” corruption and the like. Unfortunately for us, this man wasn’t wheeled off in a padded van, because he’s the president of the United States. The thing is though, there might be another reason why he’s still allowed to do this.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment states that “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

Let’s ask ourselves this: Why hasn’t this happened yet? Two words—power and culpability.

The new Trump slogan that appeared Monday night at the El Paso rally is “Finish the Wall.” To the politically unaware ear, this sounds like Trump started the wall and is being stymied by the prayer rug-peddling, feticide-loving, MS-13-funded DNC. Of course, this is spectacularly idiotic and deceptive. The “wall” has had some Trump-induced upgrades, sure, but it absolutely has not been started in earnest. The problem with this slogan is that I think a lot of his base will buy it, if they haven’t already. It’s the kind of deception that works with them. Most people don’t take the time to fact check, let alone his base.

I don’t think Trump could have come up with a slogan this insidious for the fact-based world. The only kind of salad that goes into or comes out of his mouth is a word salad, and I’m consequently unconvinced that he could have come up with something this plainly manipulative. In my opinion, it reeks of Stephen Miller, and that gets to the point I made earlier about why Trump is still in office.

Dahlia Lithwick of Slate said it perfectly: “nobody has been a more consistent architect of Trump and Trumpism than the 33-year-old Miller.” I encourage you to read her article because it’s great and lays out the facts in more detail. If Stephen Miller can get Trump to do his bidding, why bother sounding the alarm about Trump’s need to be ousted? Pence probably wouldn’t listen to Miller because Miller isn’t the voice in his head telling him to self-flagellate and call his wife “mother.” No one else seems to like Stephen Miller.

The other thing is that if Stephen Miller is getting Donald Trump to do his bidding, then guess whose ass is on the line? The big wrinkly orange one. Miller, and perhaps other close Trump aides and advisers, are getting what they want through Trump because they have the power to. Until that stops, we can stop hoping for a 25th Amendment miracle.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (198 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump gets hit from all sides

  •
  •
  •

Faux president Donald Trump stuck to his word (for once) and declared a national emergency over his vanity wall. He now wants $8 billion. The man is insane. He said in his press conference this afternoon that, “I may be sued. I don’t know that I can be sued.” Yeah, we know: You know little of anything, and you certainly don’t know anything about the law.

Hopefully, Trump now understands that he can be sued since Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has already done so. This watchdog group filed its suit almost immediately after Trump’s declaration, demanding that the Department of Justice immediately turn over any and all documents that give authority to the president to invoke emergency powers. Executive Director Noah Bookinder explains the lawsuit: “Americans deserve to know the true basis for President Trump’s unprecedented decision to enact emergency powers to pay for a border wall.” Hopefully, Trump is buckled up for the ride, as this is merely the first of many lawsuits to come.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has already verbalized its intent to file suit early next week. The ACLU’s Executive Director stated this: “By the president’s very own admission in the Rose Garden, there is no national emergency. He just grew impatient and frustrated with Congress … This is a patently illegal power grab that hurts American communities and flouts the checks and balances that are hallmarks of our democracy.”

It is a real shame that this “president” cares so little for the American people and our institutions that have existed long before his ill-advised foray into politics and that they will be standing long after he is mercifully gone from office. The list of plaintiffs is going to be long, and the State of California, which state has already withdrawn its National Guard from the border, will also be filing suit. So is the State of New York.

What is really telling in this entire fiasco is that Donald Trump’s former allies have turned on him big time. Ann Coulter told The Wrap that the only national emergency we have is that “our president is an idiot.” Duh. Most of us have known that for a very long time. It took something as ridiculously drastic as declaring a national emergency for a vanity wall for his former allies to see this. And why are they seeing it now? They, as the rest of us now know that this is likely the biggest, final nail in Trump’s coffin. Like most of America, this move makes my blood boil. To be continued…

‘People Have Been Dying Over This’

Michael_Novakhov shared this story from The Inquisitr.

In an MSNBC interview broadcast Saturday, Donald Trump’s biographer, Craig Unger, detailed the alleged links between the president and the Russian mafia, Raw Story reports.

The author of House of Trump, House of Putin detailed on MSNBC’s AM Joy how the Russian mob functions. According to the author, unlike the Italian mob and other similar criminal organizations, the Russian mafia is tied to the state. Russian mobsters, according to Unger, report to Vladimir Putin.
President Donald Trump — who is being accused of coordinating with official Moscow to sway the 2016 election in his favor — is connected to the Russian mafia, according to Unger, and the relationship between Trump and Russian mafia has been going “on and off” for nearly four decades.

“I found 13 people who have had been in Trump Tower, associated with the Russian mafia,” he said, adding that the president’s Manhattan building served as a “base of operations” for the Russian mob for the past 35 years. Furthermore, according to the writer, the Russian mafia helped Donald Trump on numerous occasions, notably when the now-president’s Atlantic City casino business wend under.
“Russian money played a huge, huge role” in Donald Trump’s financial recovery post-Atlantic City, according to Unger.

Currently investigating alleged coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia is Special Counsel Robert Mueller, whose office made the news on Friday following recommendations that former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort serve up to 24 years in prison.

As reported by the Guardian, in a court filing made public on Friday, Mueller’s team said that Manafort should serve a prison term of up to 24 years for “serious, longstanding, and bold” financial crimes.

In August 2018, Manafort was found guilty on eight counts of tax fraud, one count of bank fraud, and one count of foreign financial accounts. The jury found the longtime Republican operative guilty of hiding more than $16 million in income from United States authorities. Manafort also had millions of dollars parked in foreign banks.
Like all Trump campaign officials indicted in Mueller’s probe thus far, Manafort was found guilty for crimes unrelated to the alleged collusion. But the former Trump campaign chairman is also being accused by the Special Counsel’s office of collaborating with an alleged Russian intelligence operative, Konstantin Kilimnik, during the 2016 presidential campaign in order to help Donald Trump win the election.
According to President Trump’s biographer Craig Unger, Paul Manafort is “playing for a pardon,” and he is afraid for his life.
“The Russian mafia is serious. People have been dying over this, there have been a lot of unexplained deaths. It wouldn’t surprise me if Manafort was afraid of that,” the author concluded for MSNBC.

Palmer Report: Donald Trump’s real threat

Andrew McCabe, the former Deputy Director of the FBI whom Donald Trump fired just days before his retirement, is hitting the media circuit to promote his new aptly-named book, The Threat. While many of the released excerpts may fail to surprise, they do paint Trump in an even worse light, if that’s even possible, including his apparent giddiness at getting rid of Comey – a move he thought would end the Russia investigation.
The Atlantic has posted a short portion of The Threat. While reading that excerpt, I could feel my heart pounding. Earlier thoughts or suppositions about the level of Trump’s narcissism and dirty dealings pale in comparison to the truth that continues to come out.
When McCabe first assumed the role of Acting Director after Trump’s firing of Comey, Trump called McCabe to say, “it’s [Comey’s firing] a great thing, people are really happy about the fact that the director’s gone.” Trump claimed to have received “hundreds” of messages from FBI employees, congratulating him for firing Comey because they “hated him.
