1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (197 sites): Palmer Report: The real reason Robert Mueller hasn’t made his big move against Donald Trump (yet)

Palmer Report reader John Nesbit asked the question so many of us have on our minds: “If the evidence and proof of Trump’s crimes is so large and vast (and I’m sure that it is), why is he still allowed to get away with placing our country and the lives of so many innocent people in such grave peril? Isn’t there anything that has been perpetrated or committed (so far), to warrant his immediate removal from such a position of destructive power? How long does the process of protecting the country from this monstrosity take?”

This is the same question I’ve asked a dozen times. After all, we know proof exists of Kushner, Flynn and Trump considering plans to help Saudi Arabia obtain nuclear energy, which would benefit the same entity that bailed out the Kushner family. We know Trump committed campaign finance violations, lied about them, and did this specifically to alter the outcome of the election. We strongly suspect Trump was directly involved in conspiring with Russia to help him win the 2016 election, and we suspect he would not have won without Russia’s help. We know he fired Jim Comey in order to ease the pressure he felt about the Trump/Russia investigation, then he invited Russians into the White House and bragged about the firing, and assured the Russians that the pressure was off. So, back to the question: why is he still in office? Can’t anyone get this guy out?

The pessimistic, and perhaps realistic answer is that it is really hard to remove a sitting President. The bar is high and the options only include impeachment, and Article 25. Impeachment is the only realistic option and in order for that effort to be successful in the current political environment, the evidence has to be so overwhelming, even portions of Trump’s base begin to give up on him, causing Republican Senators to turn on him. Even with all his known crimes, we are sadly not there yet.

But, there is another side of the story. It is still based on evidence, but it involves connecting the known dots into a story. The story is that Donald Trump is not the legitimate President. He would not have won the election without the coordinated help of a Russian machine investing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of illegal Russian manpower, and help. Furthermore, as Palmer has been documenting since late 2016, county-level election results in key swing states strongly appear to have been altered. In this evidence-based scenario, Trump and Kushner were in deep financial trouble before Trump announced his Presidential bid, and they both immediately looked for ways to use the Presidency to enrich themselves.

We have some signs that Robert Mueller is in possession of evidence that would confirm all of the above about Trump. Mueller gave full immunity to Trump’s CFO. He would not have done that unless he got actionable information in exchange. Similarly, Mueller gave immunity to convicted felon George Nader. Again he must have received actionable information in exchange. The list of similar evidentiary morsels we know about is long – the raid of Deutsche Bank, the server that sent signals between Trump Tower, the DeVos connected company, and Russia. We know Mueller is sitting on a mountain of information.

There is one piece of information though that I think is very important for our ability to connect the dots. Remember that Michael Flynn began cooperating many, many months before anyone knew he was cooperating? Do you also remember that his cooperation agreement specifically included his agreement to wear a wire? At the time it was made public it seemed crazy to include that, as now that he was cooperating, presumably no target would reveal important information to him. However, once we realized he had already been cooperating before his deal, it made sense to conclude that he had already been wearing a wire, and the cooperation agreement simply documented what had already taken place.

It is information like that, as well as learning more about FBI investigative methods, that gives me reason to engage in optimistic speculation. If Flynn wore a wire and continued to have conversations with Trump and his associates, if Mueller does have acess to the kind of communications and information from our international allies that we think he does, if Trump and Kushner had meetings and conversations with officials from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Russia, and if Mueller can access the content of most of those communications – then, just imagine the intelligence the FBI has been gathering over the last two years.

The FBI could be learning about Saudi Arabia nuclear plans, and American government officials who are sympathetic to or compromised by Russia. Donald Trump has managed to infiltrate the inner circle of strongmen and despots like no other person could. At my most optimistic I think maybe, just maybe the FBI has it all under control and they will step in if truly necessary, but until then they will work diligently to finish their investigation while they monitor and learn a treasure trove of new intelligence.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (197 sites): Palmer Report: The number of Donald Trump cabinet members headed to prison just increased by at least one, and maybe two

  •
  •
  •
  •

How many of Donald Trump’s current and former cabinet members are headed to prison? That depends on a few factors, such as whether Jeff Sessions has cut an immunity deal against Trump, and whether Betsy DeVos is as closely tied to Trump-Russia as circumstantial evidence suggests she is. But we do know that the number of cabinet members headed to prison just increased by at least one, and maybe two.

This week a judge ruled that Donald Trump’s current Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta broke the law back when he was a federal prosecutor by giving a suspiciously lenient plea deal to serial child rapist Jeffrey Epstein, and preventing the victims from finding out about it. The judge hasn’t yet handed out any specific remedies, and we don’t know what will happen to Epstein, but it is clear that Acosta is in serious trouble.

The question of course is why Acosta did this. In the process he violated federal law, he also violated God’s laws by letting this sick SOB off the hook, and put his own career and freedom at stake in the process. Trump and Epstein have been friends for many years. Trump seemingly rewarded Acosta for getting Epstein off the hook, by giving him the cabinet position. We don’t know where this is headed, but there’s enough momentum now that the ugly truth will come out.

Will proof be uncovered that Alexander Acosta took some kind of bribe in exchange for letting Epstein off the hook, or that Donald Trump was somehow involved? We have no idea. Acosta will go to Hell for what he did, but the reality is that he’ll probably only go to prison if it can be proved that he had malicious intent (such as a bribe) when he cut the plea deal. However, we learned this week that another Trump cabinet member is all but definitely headed to prison.

As we speak, a grand jury is hearing evidence that Donald Trump’s recently resigned Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke lied to federal investigators about one of his scandals. Grand juries always indict on this kind of thing, and trial juries nearly always convict on this kind of thing. Zinke is going to prison. One can only hope that Alexander Acosta and Jeffrey Epstein are going with him.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (197 sites): Palmer Report: Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr have a whole new problem

  •
  •
  •
  •

Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade appeared on MSNBC yesterday to provide her thoughts on the Special Counsel’s report. McQuade does not believe Robert Mueller’s report is “imminent” and that it may instead be released “in the coming months” due to one important holdup: Donald Trump Junior and Jared Kushner are being investigated further.

Barbara McQuade’s statements and beliefs are based on the redactions in Mueller’s latest filing. She specifically points to redactions relating to Michael Cohen. Because Michael Cohen has been cooperating, it’s not hard to guess that some of that cooperation involves the Trump Tower Moscow negotiations, as well as the meeting held at Trump Tower, both of which include Junior and Kushner.

Based on the apparent timeline of the tower negotiations, McQuade thinks that those negotiations explain Trump’s “positive declarations” about Vladimir Putin, which makes sense when you think about. She further points out that if those negotiations were ongoing, as we believe they are, it “could also raise questions about what else might have been on the negotiating table for the project, particularly if he won the presidency.” Given Trump’s actions on various issues, it does appear that he made some type of promises to Putin, against the best interests of the United States.

McQuade also clarified (for those who haven’t been listening) that “collusion” is not a crime but that the Special Counsel is rightfully investigating “conspiracy,” which is a crime. She makes the further point that if Trump and his “amen corner” spokespeople SSarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway are so confident in Trump’s innocence, why does Trump go out of his way to attack law enforcement and Mueller?

Most of Trump’s actions have us all scratching our heads, but this question is very telling. Most innocent people will do anything to prove their innocence, including cooperating with an investigation. If Trump is so innocent, why does he repeatedly call the Special Counsel’s investigation a “witch hunt” and continue to scream “no collusion,” which as McQuade points out, isn’t even a crime? Even if the continued probe does in fact target Junior and Kushner, what does that have to do with Trump? Everything.

It’s safe to say that neither Kushner nor Junior would make any moves on behalf of Trump’s businesses without his input. Junior’s lies to the Senate Judiciary Committee that he knew “very little” about Trump Tower Moscow and that the project “died of deal fatigue” will likely become the center of Mueller’s probe. Michael Cohen has told Mueller the entire truth, and even Rudy Giuliani told The New York Times that Trump Sr. told him that negotiations were ongoing throughout the presidential campaign (though he claimed to later “have no recollection” of the timeline.

Pardon the cliché, but in the words of Shakespeare, methinks they doth protest too much. They are lying, and they know it. We know it, for that matter. I for one will be ecstatic when this is proven. I suspect many of you will be as well.

1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (197 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump’s friendship from hell with Jeffrey Epstein

  •
  •
  •
  •

“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Donald Trump said of Jeffrey Epstein in 2002 to New York Magazine. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Six years later, Epstein was busted for trafficking in underaged girls, but was hit with much lesser prostitution-related charges by Trump’s current Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta. Acosta ensured that Epstein would only serve thirteen months in county jail and could come and go from the facility as he pleased, per the plea agreement Acosta devised. Acosta also ensured that the victims of Epstein’s sexual violence wouldn’t be able to contest the plea agreement, because it was intentionally kept hidden. Epstein lives in the U.S. Virgin Islands now, his freedom and riches intact. Acosta referred to the Epstein plea deal as “a point of pride” during his confirmation hearings in 2017.

Of all the candidates surely qualified to run Trump’s Labor Department, why would he ever choose child prostitution enabler Alexander Acosta? It would certainly seem as if Trump’s publicly stated admiration of Epstein should lead to a few questions about that decision. Maybe Alan Dershowitz, famed Harvard law professor and Trump’s most reliable and vociferous legal expert-cum-defender can give him a few pointers. After all, he and Clinton inquisitor Kenneth Starr both helped Epstein secure his slap on the wrist when they were key players on his team of lawyers. In fact, Dershowitz says he still advises Epstein to this day. Epstein must have been a really good money manager.

Evangelical supporters of Trump remain strangely silent on all of this. Perhaps they’ve traded every fiber of their moral being for stricter abortion laws and conservative judges? After all, it would seem that child prostitution would at least lead to something like a March For Life by way of response. But since evangelicals who ever supported the notorious lecher Donald Trump are hypocrites, they’ll never hold Trump, his putrid cronies, and fellow power brokers accountable. Even great “Patriot” and Trump’s good buddy Robert Kraft is going down in flames because of his alleged participation in human trafficking. Does Donald Trump know anyone who isn’t a hypocritical asshole?

It makes a person wonder what all of these rich and powerful guys are really up to behind closed doors, and why all these God-fearing Christians seem to effortlessly turn the other cheek. Strange bedfellows. After all, forgiveness requires repentance, but there has been none from Trump. He avoids all conviction. For now.

Protecting children from sexual predators should be a priority for Democrats moving forward, since the president, the GOP, and their evangelical supporters have proven unwilling and uncaring. And Donald Trump should be asked a question about Alexander Acosta every hour until Acosta is fired.
