Contrary to what some North Dakotans believe, President Trump’s sole intent is to deceive and divide us. His latest scheme is to accuse his opponents of committing “treason.” Trump is abusing a power he doesn’t have, to create the illusion that his rivals are un-American.

Article 3, Section 3 of the Constitution states: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”

“Levying war” means assembling a body of people to forcibly take over our country. “Aid and comfort” refers to help given by someone to an American enemy.

By attacking our constitutional institutions, Trump is trying to weaken America’s moral decency until we just wearily give up. Allowing him to do whatever grotesque lawless things pop into his unstable mind. We cannot allow that to happen!

In the 1920s, because of a horrible tyrant, the German people allowed what Trump wants to do to us. Resulting in World War II.
