Based on the many planned TV ad buys the Donald Trump 2020 campaign has been canceling in key swing states in recent weeks, it’s been fairly obvious that the campaign is out of money. The only reason to pull the plug on TV ads in competitive states is if you simply can’t foot the bill for them.
Now it turns out the Trump campaign is even more broke than we thought. The Washington Post just buried this lede halfway into a lengthy article: “Two senior campaign officials said the operation needs more money to run TV ads … campaign manager Bill Stepien has told others that they need to be careful with money because there are so many states where the campaign needs it.”
In other words, we’re not just imagining it, the Trump campaign really is short on money. Donald Trump keeps publicly insisting that his campaign isn’t broke at all, and that even if it were, he’d simply bankroll the campaign himself. That’s hilarious, considering he’s just as broke as his campaign is. But it raises the question of whether the increasingly delusional and insulated Trump is even aware that his campaign is truly broke, or if his babysitters are keeping him in the dark.
